“Renda-se!”

The lace and rosettes of Pico Island are a unique handicraft that reflects the deep connection between the local culture and the tradition passed down from generation to generation by the lace makers.

Using techniques such as barb, crochet and bobbin, Pico’s lace makers create complex pieces inspired by floral patterns and nature’s elements, such as the Amor-perfeito Rose and the Sécia Rose.

These laces are not only a cultural heritage, but also an expression of the Azorean identity, proudly preserved over the centuries.
